Established in 1748, Frederick County will observe its 250th anniversary this year. Paul Gordon, chairman of the steering committee for the anniversary celebration, says the planned events reflect the values that the committee feels the county has exhibited throughout its history: community, family, religion and heritage.
Frederick County was carved out of Prince George's County 2 1/2 centuries ago, after a 10-year effort by two major county landowners, Benjamin Tasker and Daniel Dulaney, Mr. Gordon says. Part of the county was also taken from Baltimore County.
