The music begins, and the players circle each other in time to Brazilian rhythms. They kick but do not connect, reach out but do not grab.
They flail and cartwheel, spin and bounce. There is no "winner" in this contest, but the player with the better rhythm will be considered the more beautiful and respected contestant.
This is capoeira - a Brazilian martial art unlike any other. It incorporates music, dance, martial arts and ancient mating rituals.
