TOKYO, Dec 21 Asia Pulse - Five Japanese oil wholesalers and refiners affiliated with Exxon Mobil Corp., the world's largest oil company, said Monday they have formed 60 task forces to study consolidation in line with the U.S. company's plan to reorganize its local operations into four sectors, including fuel oil sales and refining. The new refinery operation will control 17% of the market here and that of fuel oil sales 19%.
The task forces, composed of 300 officials from Esso Sekiyu KK, General Sekiyu KK, Mobil Sekiyu KK, Tonen Corp. (TSE:5005) and Kyokuto Petroleum Industries Ltd., will take several months to study the best way to consolidate ...

...Aramco Japan Holdings, a subsidiary of Saudi Aramco, on 20 June announced that it had acquired a 5 per cent stake in Japan's Showa Shell from the Royal Dutch/Shell Group. The acquisition brings Aramco's total stake in the publicly traded Japanese refining and marketing company to 14.96 per cent.
