NASHUA, N.H. - Vice President Al Gore is counting on a secret weapon in his uphill bid to capture the New Hampshire primary - Sen. John McCain.
Mr. Gore is talking up the Arizona Republican while tearing down fellow Democrat Bill Bradley in a calculated campaign to erode the former New Jersey senator's 3 percentage point lead in the polls.
Mr. Gore recently took out a full-page ad in a Claremont, N.H., newspaper to praise the "real courage" of Mr. McCain - even as he denigrated Mr. Bradley's record on campaign finance reform.
