According to MFTZ Environment Monitor, the European Investment Bank (EIB), the primary provider of funds for implementing the "Euro-Mediterranean Partnership" has became under heavy attack lately from politicians and non-governmental organisations. The spokesperson of the European Parliament Budgetary Control Committee Bashir Khanbhai demanded in December that the chair of the EIB, Sir Bryan Unwin, withdraw from his post. For months, the Conservative British MEP has tried to obtain answers to questions concerning alleged poor administration and fraud, with funds and lack of openness in EIB.
