XINING, Jan 6 Asia Pulse - China will redouble its efforts to develop potash fertilizer resources in the Qaidam Basin in Northwest China.
The move is part of the government's policy to invigorate economy in the western region of the country, an area that has been plagued by sluggish economic development for a long time.
The Qaidam basin abounds in resources of lake salt, potash, magnesium, lithium, bromine, strontium, asbestos and limestone. There are also rich reserves of petroleum, natural gas, coal, lead, zinc, gold and silver. What is more noteworthy is the reserves of potash salt, which takes up 99.7% of the country's total.
