In what must be an unprecedented move, Mayor Mary Jo Knudsen has annexed a portion of Merced to New York City. Though it's only temporary, the area around New York, New York Pizza will be "part of New York City for this New Year's Eve," according to a proclamation signed by Knudsen.
Ahmad Rahmen, who with his father, Richard, owns the restaurant at 2800 G St., said the proclamation came about as part of their effort to bring a little of their hometown to the West Coast. The Rahmens moved to Merced from ...
