Jan. 11--The big deal between America Online Inc. and Time Warner Inc. looks like a pretty good deal for Virginia, too.
"It's a powerful statement about what's going on in the state today," said Donald W. Upson, the commonwealth's secretary of technology. "Virginia is the Internet capital."
The deal seems unlikely to draw influence away from AOL's headquarters in Dulles in Loudoun County. Upson said he spoke yesterday to AOL officials who said the company's operating headquarters will remain in Northern Virginia.
