Jan. 7--First Data Resources Inc. on Thursday eliminated the jobs of 147 credit-card production employees, saying there wasn't enough business to keep them on the payroll.
The workers were employed at First Data's credit-card production operations in Old Mill, at Intersate 680 and West Dodge Road, and the Starwood office park, I-680 and Nebraska Highway 133.
First Data's credit-card production business increased in 1998 and 1999, but the volumes had dropped to the point where the workers were no longer needed, spokeswoman Nancy Etheredge said.
The 147 workers on Thursday received paychecks along with notices their jobs had been eliminated. They ...
