PROJECT OVERVIEW:
France-based THOMSON MULTIMEDIA, a subsidiary of the THOMSON GROUP, recently announced that it was planning to increase its very large screen color television tube production capacity. In so doing, the company is proposing to invest $200,000,000 in Mexicali, Baja California, on Mexico's northern border with California.
As a result, the French company has now awarded a plant construction contract to the local ICA-FLUOR DANIEL. According to the terms of the award, ICA-FLUOR will be responsible for building a new factory. The cost to build the new facility has been pegged at $80,000,000.
