Jan. 13--LINCOLN, Neb.--With irrigation, it's not just about water anymore.
Now, it's about precision control of fertilizer, herbicides and energy. It's about getting the most out of satellites, computers and yield monitors.
Researchers say center-pivot irrigation -- a significant industry in Nebraska in terms of both the factories that make the equipment and the farmers who use it -- is on the verge of major breakthroughs in technology that could further fine-tune farming practices.
