LAGUNA HILLS, Cal.-Fisher & Paykel has taken the wraps off the first cooking appliance it will sell in North America, a gas cooktop with five varied burners.
The 36-inch stainless-steel unit was scheduled for shipping early this year. The New Zealand manufacturer said the retail price would be around $799.
Model GC36 features an unusual griddle burner, plus high-output triple-ring burner, two intermediate burners, and a simmer burner for maximum cooking flexibility. The elongated griddle heater was described as incorporating a traditional element in a contemporary appliance. A solid griddle with non-sticking surface also comes with the cooktop.
