Jan. 21--Bristol-Myers Squibb Co. yesterday named a dark horse as its new president, dealing a setback to several other top executives who have been racing to succeed Charles Heimbold as chief executive of the New York drug maker.
Peter Dolan, 44, a senior vice president who most recently headed the company's strategic oversight council, was also elected to the board of directors and is now responsible for a far-reaching portfolio that includes pharmaceutical, beauty care and nutrition products.
The promotion, which is accompanied by the creation of an expanded office of the chairman that now includes nine executives, comes at a crucial juncture. The ...
