Berrigan, others jailed for damaging military planes
Peace activist Philip Berrigan and three others were jailed Dec. 19 in Essex, Md., after spraying blood on two A-10 jet fighters and beating on one with hammers at Maryland's Warfield Air National Guard Base.
The incident and the arrests occurred within minutes of each other at approximately 4 a.m.
Identified as those arrested with Berrigan were Susan Crane, 56; Jesuit Fr. Stephen Kelly, 50, of California; and Elizabeth Walz, 33.
The four cut through wire fencing to enter the airfield and sprayed on the planes what they said was their own blood. The aircraft cost about $8 million ...
