SAN DIEGO -- During 6% of office visits, family physicians provide advice or other kinds of care that is intended to help so-called "secondary patients," Patrice Gregory, Ph.D., reported at the annual meeting of the North American Primary Care Research Group.
This extra care adds about 5 minutes to the typical visit in which such care is provided. This allows FPs to deliver a discernible service at minimal cost, said Dr. Gregory of the department at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, Piscataway, N.J.
