SAN DIEGO -- Family members who accompany patients during office visits often play active roles, Deborah Main, Ph.D., said at the annual meeting of the North American Primary Care Research Group.
"Family members serve as a really important source of information about other family members and context," said Dr. Main of the department of family practice at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, Denver. "If mom comes in with a child who has an earache, it's helpful for her to say that every other child in their child care center has an earache."
