Article: CONDITIONS ATTACHED TO CLEARANCE OF AUSTRIAN TEXTILES AID.(Brief Article)

The European Commission has given its conditional stamp of approval for restructuring aid worth ECU 12.4 million to the Austrian textiles firm Ergee Textilwerk GmbH, situated in the region of Waldviertel, an assisted area covered by EU rules on aid to needy economic areas (Article 92@3(c) of the EC Treaty). The major condition of this approval, the Commission stressed in a statement released on December 22, is that for its guarantee for an operating credit of up to ECU 6.5 million, Ergee pays a fee of 1.05% to the Austrian State to offset any adverse effects of the aid on competitors.
