In principle, the Council will hope to agree on a proposal or a Directive to amend Directive 93/104/EEC. This horizontal Directive covers the majority of the sectors excluded by the 1993 Directive: rail, air, sea, inland waterways, fisheries, offshore operations, and trainee doctors). It should be noted that the Directive which covers mobile workers in the road transport sector is being separately examined by the Transport Council.This horizontal Directive will be completed by two other sectoral Directives.
