Patricia Hewitt, Minister for Small Business and E-Commerce said, "figures published today by the British Chambers of Commerce (BCC) are nonsense."
Speaking on BBC2's Working Lunch, the Minister said:
"The BCC's figure for the administrative costs for the National Minimum Wage was the most expensive option that the Government consulted on two years ago. Businesses didn't like it so the Government dropped it. Now there are very few administration costs for the National Minimum Wage."
