HANOI, Jan 25 Asia Pulse - Vietnamese rubber businesses must increase their competitiveness on the international market in order to boost and stabilise exports, the Viet Nam General Rubber Corporation (GERUCO) has announced.
Last year the sector sold a total US$157 million worth of rubber abroad, making it the country's third largest export after rice and coffee.
However, this achievement was more the result of serendipity than wise planning by the industry. Leading rubber countries such as Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia were affected by heavy, prolonged rains during October and November which stalled production and sent world rubber prices ...
