PROJECT OVERVIEW
The local TIMAH & SUBURBS ELECTRICITY CO. currently operates a power complex configured with 7-5 Mw diesel turbines at its Timah site. And, the company is now gearing-up to expand its capacity. In so doing, it recently awarded a contract to NATIONAL CONTRACTING CO. (NCC) of Saudi Arabia to undertake the project.
Refurbishment works call for the supply of 2 Frame 5 turbines which will add some 18 Mw in output. The cost to complete the planned refurbishment works has been pegged at $23,000,000.
NCC has a total employment of about 500 active in the turnkey installation of power stations, electrical as well as mechanical works.
