PROJECT OVERVIEW
The local CHINA PETROCHEMICAL DEVELOPMENT CORP. (CPDC) is currently involved in the construction of a caprolactam plant with an installed production capacity of about 125,000 metric tons per year (mt/y). This new facility is expected to become operational by February 2000.
However, the company recently decided to invest another $320,000,000 in order to just about double production output at its Kaohsiung site in Taiwan.
CPDC employs a total staff of about 1,200. The company is engaged in the manufacture of petrochemical products. The latter include acrylonitrile, caprolactam, acetic acid, methanol and general chemicals.
