A community hospital can provide a Level 1 training environment for family therapy students interested in medical family therapy; and the presence of supervised trainees in the hospital can enrich the supportive care environment of the institution. This article describes a two-year pilot program that was organized for local universities by a Medical Family Therapist/AAMFT Supervisor who collaborates in practice at the Whittingham Cancer Center, Norwalk Hospital in Norwalk, Connecticut. By reporting on this pilot program we hope to encourage similar collaborations.
