"Black Dance: Tradition and Transformation," a new series spotlighting black dance companies from the U.S. and abroad, will debut during Black History Month at 651 ARTS in Brooklyn. The series, which organizers hope to develop into an annual event, will focus on the transformation of black dance from traditional African to contemporary urban forms. "We want to be that place where black dance companies can count on being presented," said 651 representative Heidi Riegler.
