In a step that could lead to electronic circuits the size of atoms, scientists have found a way to move information using electrons instead of wires.
The team describes in the British journal Nature the so-called quantum mirage effect, which carries the potential of miniaturizing microprocessors a million-fold.
"With my futuristic vision, I can imagine billions and billions of little quantum mirages carrying information throughout a chip, but the operative word here is 'imagine.'
