Under the shadow of the OFT report, many firms are in the doldrums but Iceland and Sainsbury do well
Food retailers and manufacturers have had another disappointing month as all but a handful of companies saw their value slide.
Although talk this week has been of an upturn in the sector's fortunes -- the beginning of the week saw brisk trade in the sector and Asda and Sainsbury enjoy significant gains -- over the month there has been little progress.
That is unsurprising given continued uncertainty over the imminent OFT report and concerns over the effect of price skirmishing on margins.
