GAEL LOVE: I was fascinated that you worked for Diana Vreeland.
ALI MACGRAW: You know, as you get older and you look back on who counts in your life in a teaching sense, there are a handful of people who change your life forever. Certainly the luck of having my very first job out of Wellesley College--Miss Very Sedate New England child that I was--in her office, was extraordinary. I think she's everything we all know she is. She's a legend and she's the tastemaker and she exposed me, and I don't even know if she knows this because I was only there for six months--
