LISA ROBINSON: Why have the Cars at all? You write all the music, you sing--couldn't you just do your solo records like Cars records?
RIC OCASEK: Well, I quite like the band and the people and the elements in it. I've met a lot of musicians and played with a lot of other people, but to get the Cars sound, you need the Cars.
LR: Do you look at making a Cars record now as a sort of respite, like a vacation from all your other work? Is there less pressure on you when you have all of them to sort of surround yourself with?
