BEIJING, Feb 16 Asia Pulse - China's market demand for stainless steel has grown rapidly in recent years.

Official statistics show that it took only five years for the apparent consumption of stainless steel plates to increase from 500,000 tons to one million tons as against 15 years in Japan. If calculated at this speed, the country's market demand will top 1.5 million tons by 2000, two million tons by 2005, and 2.5 million tons by 2010.
