Max DeZara classifies himself and his co-workers as nines.
But that's not on a scale of 10. He's referring to a classification on a personality test and not the grading scale for the singles scene.
Mr. DeZara feels he and the staff at Whitney Group, the Chicago-based executive search firm where Mr. DeZara is vice-chairman, are type nines on the enneagram system, a personality assessment tool that divides people into nine distinct types. (See accompanying story.) In that system, nines are mediators; indeed, Mr. DeZara describes the firm as "a pleasant place."
