Feb. 21--NIAGARA FALLS, Ont.--Two years ago, when city officials suggested that investors would pump $1 billion Canadian into attractions and hotels here, skeptics rolled their eyes.
The skeptics appear to have been wrong. In fact, the conservative figure now is more than $1.7 billion in development -- already under way, or about to be. That's about $1.2 billion U.S. money.
To put this torrent of development in perspective, consider some well-known Western New York projects. Imagine if three copies each of Walden Galleria, the Hyatt Regency Buffalo, Marine Midland Arena, Dunn Tire Park, the Burt Flickinger Center and Amherst's Pepsi Center were built in ...
