SAN DIEGO -- Tailored interventions by visiting nurse facilitators can help primary care physicians improve preventive care, Dr. Jacques Lemelin reported at the annual meeting of the North American Primary Care Research Group.
"To improve prevention, we need to change physician behavior," commented Dr. Lemelin of the department of family medicine at the University of Ottawa. "It's quite clear that [clinical practice] guidelines and information transfer have been shown not to be sufficient to achieve that change."
