Introduction
The current literature on mergers yields few mentions of the critical function of middle management in facilitating merger integration. Yet our experience in working with mergers has clearly shown that the effectiveness and rapidity, as well as management of the inevitable stress, of post-merger integration largely depends on the role middle management takes in the process.
