It's already a given that shelf pace for VHS is being affected by the increased popularity of DVD. Now the real estate devoted by hardware retailers to VCRs is expected to face even more competition during the next several years, with the projected increased popularity of digital video recorders combined with that of DVD.
According to a recent report by Cahners' In-Stat Group, unit shipments of digital video recorders such as TiVo will increase dramatically during the next five years.
