Ailing King Hussein's decision to name his son, Abdullah, as heir to Jordan's throne has placed a little-known and untested prince at the center of explosive Middle East conflicts involving Iraq, Israel, Syria, Lebanon and the Palestinians.
Crown Prince Abdullah, 37, who attended a Massachusetts prep school and Georgetown University, shares his father's commitment to peace with Israel and his support for U.S. policies in the Middle East, say those who know him.
But he has little public leadership experience other than military service.
