NEW YORK - Friends of Hillary Rodham Clinton quiver with anticipation that she will run for the seat to be vacated by Democratic Sen. Daniel Patrick Moynihan next year, but political insiders predict the first lady won't take the plunge.
The political professionals harbor doubts, despite the fact that nearly all local polls show Mrs. Clinton way out in front in matchups with two potential Republican opponents: New York Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani and Alfonse M. D'Amato, a former three-term senator.
