Hollywood has claimed Shakespeare in a big way of late with the romantic comedy "Shakespeare in Love." Leave it to Washington, so loving of institutions, to do him one better by establishing a school in his name.
The plan by the Shakespeare Theatre in conjunction with George Washington University to open the Shakespeare Theatre Academy for Classical Acting here in June 2000 will put the playwright on the local map in a permanent way.
"This is not an acting school, but one in which to grow in a particular discipline," explains Michael Kahn, artistic director of the Shakespeare Theatre, at a recent press conference announcing his latest pet project. ...
