KATHMANDU, Nepal - The hippies and flower children of the '60s who saw the happy valley of Kathmandu as the Garden of Eden wouldn't be pleased. The gorgeous snow-capped Himalayas are often concealed by a thick claustrophobic smog, wrought by the flatulent cows and the equally-flatulent ever-present cars, trucks and three-wheeled auto-rickshaws.
The Nepalese are quick to tell a visitor that their country is very different from India. That's true.
