ORLANDO, FL--The multifamily lending environment in 2000 will be highly competitive, meaning that Freddie Mac "can't rest on its laurels of 1999," its senior vice president for multifamily declared.
Speaking at a press briefing at the Mortgage Bankers Association of America's Commercial Real Estate Finance/Multifamily Housing Convention here, Adrian B. Corbiere said Freddie Mac will need to be innovative, and conceded it must be prepared to make some mistakes in doing so.
In 2000, there will be a tremendous supply of capital available, but not enough product to lend on, he said.
