Mar. 5--Bert Katz calls himself a "heavyweight" CPA who does accounting with a sense of humor.
An amateur comic who weighs 450 pounds, Katz tries to joke with clients to break the tension they feel around tax time.
"I once said to a client, 'What has two arms, two legs and owes the IRS a half million dollars?' " says Katz, a certified public accountant in Bedminster. "I use humor to communicate with clients because it might trigger them to say something that could end up as a deduction for them. I was kidding around with somebody once about college.
