Mar. 6--WESTMINSTER, Calif.--If Orange County is ever invaded by tiny alien animals, have no fear. Literally thousands of local kids are ready to take them on.
Despite Sunday's rain, they showed up in droves at the Westminster Mall to test their prowess as masters of Pokemon -- cute, cuddly and super-powered "pocket monsters" -- in a competition sponsored by Nintendo to launch its new video game.
Gladiator-style music boomed above the cheering crowd. Eyes fixed on the screen, the finalists worked their controllers. Then an evolved starfish met its fate from the hyper-blast of a mutant cat named Mewtwo. END BATTLE appeared in neon letters on the TV ...
