OK, now that it's February, it's time to talk about George Washington. Fine, you say, but why here? Why in this magazine? Because, I submit, there's a lot in the story of George Washington that applies to long-term care providers at the turn of the 21st century. There are several parallels, and they might just have something to say about the future.
It's tempting to begin with the famous cherry tree episode, but historians tell us that it's probably "apocryphal" (i.e., "never happened"). Still, it's nice to think that George Washington could never tell a lie. That has some bearing on long-term care providers' current concerns about corporate compliance.
