The Lord Chancellor, Lord Irvine, has announced the first appointments to the Legal Services Consultative Panel (LSCP), which came into effect on 1 January 2000. The Panel is chaired by Lord Justice Potter.

The LSCP replaces the Lord Chancellor's Advisory Committee on Legal Education and Conduct (ACLEC), which was abolished on 31 December 1999.

The LSCP will provide the Lord Chancellor with advice he requires about legal services, legal education and related matters. ...
