The TTY Forum filed a status report with the FCC Nov.12 detailing the forum's ongoing efforts to find viable solutions for TTY access to 911 service over digital wireless systems. The report summarized every TTY test submitted to the forum and made recommendations to the commission on the best voice-based and data-based solutions to date.
In its report, the TTY Forum found that the wireless industry diligently attempted to resolve the issue of sending 45.5 baud baudot tones (the tones emitted by a text telephone, or TTY) over digital air interfaces.
