MANOGUAYABO, Dominican Republic -- Practice was over now, and, one by one, the ballplayers were collecting their gear and making a slow, steady procession down the right-field line, toward home.
But the die-hards, those who simply can't get enough of baseball, game or no game, practice or no practice, remained on the field, doing what comes naturally to them. They were playing ball.
