Paper Industry Recovery Bodes Well for Bleaching, Pulping Chemicals.

DEMAND FOR sodium chlorate and hydrogen peroxide is up and producers remain optimistic that the paper industry's recovery will be sustained.

Major pulping and bleaching chemicals saw their fortunes turn around in 1999, as the pulp and paper industry rebounded from a prolonged slump that was mainly caused by the global economic crisis that hit much of Asia and Latin America in 1998. Although a few chemical producers remain skittish, many say the paper industry will be able to sustain its recent recovery.
