This guided tour of a modern continuous furnace line emphasizes solution heat treating and aging of aluminum castings and forgings for automotive industry applications.
Continuous heat treating lines are used throughout the automotive industry for such applications as solution treating and aging of aluminum parts, and for austenitizing and tempering of steel.
Continuous furnaces have several advantages over batch furnaces. Flexibility in product mix and process requirements, however, are not easy to accommodate compared with batch units. This article focuses on recent advances in continuous furnace technology.
