A muesli package launched last Fall in Norway for Regal Molle's Bajas cereal is notable for what it does not contain: It has no inner bag. Instead, it relies solely on Stora Enso Packaging Boards' Performa Barr multilayer board for product protection. It comprises up to an 8-layer structure that includes a barrier layer of ethylene vinyl alcohol or polyamide. It also has a product-contact layer of low-density polyethylene as well as a core layer of chemical thermal mechanical pulp (CTMP), a cost-effective alternative to SBS, PD is told.
