1923: Belfast Disaster

A distressing boating accident occurred at the Musgrave Channel, Belfast Harbour, late on Saturday night, as a result of which three persons were drowned. It seems that a party of over 30 persons were returning to the city after a cruise to Carrickfergus in a motor boat, and as some of them were being landed in a rowing boat on the Connswater side of the channel the little craft filled with water and sank. Four of those in the boat were saved.
