PROTECTING yourself and your belongings while travelling goes much deeper than cancelling the milk and newspapers and taking out insurance.
I once witnessed a theft in all its stunningly swift casualness.
A bicyclist nipped into a grocery and, intending a quick purchase, left his bicycle unlocked. Just as he entered the shop, a passer-by noticed the unlocked bicycle, furtively looked around and, seeing a clear coast, simply rode off on the bicycle. Returning a few mere seconds later, the owner was already too late.
This grocery was not a notorious ...
